Course Description For individuals with no prior experience or knowledge of Spanish - This course provides an introduction to understanding and speaking the Spanish language. The class will enhance vocabulary and provide opportunities for participants to express themselves in Spanish with the use of songs, engaging games, and a wide variety of activities in an online setting. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to: 1. Communication: Engage in conversations about familiar contexts in the present tense, demonstrating command of basic vocabulary, structures and pronunciation in the spanish language Introduce themselves to others Ask and answer questions about basic information Identify topics of interest Express likes and dislikes Talk about everyday topics such as their favorite food, and activities in their free time 2. Culture: Participants will gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. They will be more acquainted with the places where Spanish is spoken and will have increased their awareness of the U.S. Hispanic/Latinx communities. About Ariana Sorto: Instructor Bio Born in San Salvador, El Salvador and raised in the Washington Metropolitan area, I am a native Spanish speaker and one of my passions is teaching others about my language and culture! I attended Towson University and have a degree in Psychology which sparked my interest in working with different communities including best buddies and other local organizations. In my free time, I love dancing, traveling and spending time with my family in Maryland & El Salvador and my tiny puppy, OSITA (Spanish for little bear!)
