Hello Sunshines!
We had a blast in February celebrating numerous birthdays including Elma's! Cheers to all who celebrated birthdays. We are another year older and very grateful to everyone who has cheered us on.
With a lot of hard work and planning, we are very pleased to announce the opening this month of our new SP Computer Lab. We've built an amazing new addition to our day program which includes new computer workstations, an audio/video recording studio, and gaming center. This lab coincides with the start of our pilot Technology Cohort Program (TCP) where a limited number of participants will be immersed in producing audio/video livestreams, creating content, learning basic coding skills, and working on IT-related vocational skills. Our normal Day Program participants will also be introduced to more tech-related skill building activities in the lab in the coming weeks!
Please mark your calendars for the March 17 SP St Patrick's Dance! Many of us enjoy celebrating the Irish tradition. We will have a fun evening of gathering and dancing with friends! Watch out for the invite that can be shared to all families and friends.
Another important celebration this month is World Down Syndrome Day. In celebration, our day program participants will join friends at the Annapolis State House to witness the proclamation of World Down Syndrome Day. We will also help to distribute advocate letters and socks prior to that day on March 16. Join us in celebrating our friends with Down Syndrome by wearing mismatched socks on March 21st.
Thanks to our ever diligent head baker, Ellen Salazar, we continue to improve the taste and quality of our Sunshine Barkery Dog Biscuits. We also have a new Cheddar Cheese flavor which has been a great hit with our canine friends and with the recent warmer weather, we've started selling again at our kiosk at 4975 MacArthur Blvd. Come visit us on a warmer day and bring your pups to sample a bite of the Sunshine Barkery dog biscuits.
