At 21, most school-based services for individuals with IDD end, leaving families wondering - what now? This moment can feel like a cliff, but its also a time filled with many possibilities.
This “services cliff” is a well-known issue, as highlighted by The Arc’s research on transitioning youth, which emphasizes the importance of continuing support into adulthood. With the right adult programs, young adults can continue to grow, learn, and thrive in ways to go beyond academics.
Sunshine Projects bridges this transition with our programs that are designed to promote lifelong learning. From creative classes to life-skills training, participants continue to gain tools for independent living and a sense of purpose well beyond the classroom years.
